About Outcry Reads
Outcry Reads is a yearly series of play readings. Outcry Theatre produces four readings of new works by local Dallas-Fort Worth playwrights. Local actors are cast, and an Outcry staff member directs the readings. The readings take place at the Outcry Theatre Rehearsal Location in Plano, Texas. The readings are free to attend, with limited seating for up to 20 audience members. A talkback follows the readings, moderated by the director, where the audience members and actors discuss the play with the playwright.

Auditions for All Delighted People
Written by Rhett Goldman
Directed by Benjamin McElroy
Intimacy Direction: Theo Moers
“God left His throne
He tore up his covenant
The world got too ugly to watch
Like a bad play
He has to get up at intermission
But He doesn’t leave the theatre
He’s jumped onto the stage”
So opens this sprawling tale of love, loss, and connection. Henry is God’s human incarnate, and his mother Caroline runs away after he is born. Not much of a Mary figure she leaves to LA to be a production assistant. Meanwhile, Henry grows up and finds his first love in his friend Aaron. They break up and Aaron leaves for LA as well. Henry falls deeper and deeper into a pit of despair and suffering. He soon embarks for LA and reunites with Aaron and Caroline in a profound climax of biblical proportions. Touching and at times very funny this play’s catharsis will be heard from here to heaven.
